    Hi Bruce, in my case  when I put my ear pods in the case the lights blink but just for few seconds and then goes off , I believe that is not charging my ears podos . but when i use the cable in the case I can see the lights on and blinking like is charging and after while the lights goes steady on so that's means is totally charged.
