My headphones keep randomly disconnecting

  • Bruce B.

    Hello TomZ31,

I am sorry to hear that your Jaybird randomly disconnects. This is not the quality we're expecting from our product.

Are the buds currently or have they been paired to any other device previously?

Can you confirm the phone is the only enabled and paired BT device in the vicinity?

We need to do some steps:

-Move the headphone closer to audio source.

    -Try different Music App

-Disconnect Audio source other Bluetooth devices and 3rd party apps

-Try different audio source or Phone

-Check and clean any debris on your device

    Clear cache on Android phones

    (for X4, X3, Freedom 2)

    1. Make sure your buds are powered off.

    2. From an off state, press and hold the power button for 8 seconds until the LEDs flash red and green.

    3. Double press the power button. The LED will flash rapidly and you should hear a double tone. Your buds have now been reset.

    (for Tarah, Tarah Pro)

    1. If applicable, "FORGET” or “REMOVE” your Tarah Pro earbuds in your Bluetooth list of discovered devices.

    2. Turn your Tarah Pro earbuds off by holding the middle button until the LED illuminates red and turns off.

    3. When your earbuds are powered off, press and hold the middle button for five seconds until the LED starts blinking white.

    4. While the LED is blinking white, quickly double-press the middle button. The LED will illuminate red briefly, and then the LED will start blinking white again.

    5. Your earbuds are now reset and ready to pair. Go to your audio device’s Bluetooth menu and select Jaybird Tarah Pro to re-pair.

    (for X2 and Bluebuds X)

    1. Turn headphones off

    2. Put headphones in pairing mode (hold middle button for 6-8 seconds until it says, "Searching for your Music Device")

    3. LED will flash red and green

    4. Hold both volume buttons down 6-8 seconds, this will reset the headphones

    5. LED will flash orange 3 times

    6. Delete Bluetooth profile from device

    7. Put headphones back into pairing mode and connect them to your device.

I have suffered this problem for a couple of days now. It will play music from my phone for a couple of seconds then disconnect. I have reset the earphones multiple times but it doesn't fix it. It only seems to have trouble connecting to my phone as it works fine with my laptop, but my other Bluetooth devices connect fine to my phone.

  • Liz Vanderveer

Was this ever resolved? I’ve been having the same problems!

  • JoAttard

Same here. This is so annoying. These headphones are expensive and I expected a better run of service from them. The resetting hasn't worked at all. Any other suggestions for the X3, Jaybird?

Having the same problem. I connect to an Galaxy S10+ & Tarah Pro. It connects. Shows the battery percentage. Says it needs an update. Then disconnects.
Feels like a quality control issue or bug in the current version of the software shipping on the headset. I had the same model before and never had an issue.
I tried the steps Bruce out lined (8 months ago) several times and nothing is changing. I'm shocked to see that there has been no response from the company to the multiple posts made on this thread since then.

Im having the same issue. Its paired to a samsing galaxy note 9. No other devices have been paired to the jaybird vista.

I'm having this problem too. Tried the steps above numerous times, not helping. Has anyone got a response from jaybird?

I have a jaybird Tarah, it disconnects 5 times in 15 minutes. this has happened to me ever since i bought my headphones. I am super upset. it won't actually connect back to my device. so now i am doomed with a headphone that is not working. Do i get a refund for this or is my headphones broken?

Been having the same trouble!  Whether connected to a laptop, stand alone, or phone, the headset will randomly drop in the middle of connection.  This is happening even during conversations and active engagement versus during a passive mode where the headset might mistakenly go into hibernation.  This has been INCREDIBLY frustrating.  Also very sad to see so many folks expressing concerns and no one from Jaybird responding....Jaybird tech support - HELP!!!!!!!!!

I'm now on my second pair of Jaybird Tarah's.  My first pair of Tarah's worked perfectly, never had an issue.  They were then unfortunately stolen.

Given the great experience I had, I bought another pair.  These are continuously disconnecting/reconnecting, even when my phone is in my hand .... 15cm from the headphones.  My phone is the same phone from the original pair of Tarah's through to the current pair.  I have tried all of the recommendations above, but no luck.

I am also experiencing the same random disconnection problem with my samsung phone and macbook and iphone. Also experienced the battery life jumping up and down drastically or just powering off after a few minutes when it powered on saying 60%.
