You should most definetly have no cut outs when with your headset from that distance. Please try this reset to see if that helps.

During the pairing mode ( red / green ) it is possible to reset your headphones. First follow the steps to enter pairing mode. By powering up the headset, holding past the ( green ) led light till you receive the multi color flashing.  Then instantly switch and hold the up & down key simultaneously until the dual color status indicator LED rapidly flashes 5 times and or a double high tone is heard threw the headset.

You'll want to delete & repair the headset to your music player once finished with that.

Thanks, Beau. I tried resetting, but I'll try doing the whole thing again - reset and re-pair. I thought that it should work just fine since it was so close and that a pocket wouldn't really make a difference.

@Zander Ebin Perfect, try the entire reset and let me know if that helps or not.

Hi @Beau this didn't work. The headphones still cut out so that listening is annoying, and I'm inclined to believe the headphones don't work. This happens when I have a slim plastic case on the phone and put the phone in my pants pocket. I would think those obstructions wouldn't be enough to interfere, but is that not the case? If I'm not able to listen with the phone in my pocket, I'm going to have to return the headphones.

Tl;dr = Let receiver/remote hang, don't strap it to your neck.

I think I found the solution, at least for me.

It seems to be a design flaw though.

I noticed in the first day or two that I had no problems, but then I shortened the wire (the two plastic thingy's).

This causes the receiver/remote to be 'pressed' against my neck behind my ear.

When I let the receiver/remote hang down my ear everything works fine. It doesn't have any dropouts anymore and it has the same bluetooth distance as my previous bluetooth headset (Backbeat FIT, which has everything on the ears itself).

Please let me know if this also helps for you!

It is a design flaw because you should be able to strap the receiver/remote to your neck.

I have that same problem, I can't use them like this, I tried putting my phone in every pocket to see if it will help, some work better then others but the sound keeps cutting out, very annoying, I will return them if there is no solution...

I have the same issue. I have returned it and the second pair made a hissing sound. Returned them, and this pair have the same cutting in and out issue as the first. I had the X2 for over 3 years and they rocked - but died.

Hate to say it, but I will have to return these and give up on them the x3. I can’t even use them on a cycle ride or a run with out my phone in my hand, which is rediculous.

    Very dissappointed.

I just bought a set of X4's - constantly cutting out. I haven't tried anything other than the behind the ear method, but that is why I bought them. I want the cable out of the way. ?I purchased privately from an individual who got a replacement set. They were factory wrapped and sealed but because I wasn't the original purchaser Jaybird support won't even talk to me. Comfortable, sound great (when playing). It's absolutely unacceptable they perform like this. They sent me a 15% discount code to purchase a new set from the website - I'll be keeping my money.
