Real shame as one of the best fitting wireless sport headphones around - and I've tried a lot of them. I've heard that Jaybird customer service is very good, but would be concerned if lots of people are having same problem (especially with how much I paid for them at Apple!). Really inspecting it I think it's a problem with the charging unit / battery not being secure against any slight sweat - it looks like some of the elements have a residue or are corroding, and after reading around the forum I was charging them very carefully.

I have a similar problem. My freedoms won't turn on at all unless I attach the backup battery (essentially making them much larger and heavier than they are).

Have given up on them and going to return for a refund, especially with powerbeats 3 coming out in couple of weeks and X3's dropping soon after- unfortunately not heard back from Jaybird yet and have seen lots of people having similar problems on twitter. Would be good to get some comments from Jaybird - meanwhile have dusted off my old Monster isport freedoms.

So still no reply from Jaybird! Not very impressed with customer service (lack of) - Apple took Freedoms back - a problem they said a lot of people have had. Now on to Bose soundsports (30 day trial) - fingers crossed.

All I can suggest (as much as Jaybird won't like it) is try and get a refund - from point of purchase (Apple were great with me when I explained everything to them). I've had one contact from Jaybird customer support that asked me to try hard re setting - which I'd tried lots of times with no success - it wouldn't turn on at all! Then last week got an email saying that they were pleased that my issue was resolved and that they hoped I enjoyed my Jaybird product!?!?! - Don't think that they even looked at any of my mails. I'm waiting for the customer satisfaction survey that they're going to send out to me! Still trialing the Bose - and to be fair even though the versatility in listening isn't as good, reliability has been impeccable. Going to try the powerbeats 3 and make a decision. Hope you get better results than I did!

Hi all.. I also experienced same problem. When the earphone reaches 40 percents battery level, it would be off and could not be turned on again. When I tried to recharge it, nothing happened and the light didn't turn on. I found out that many have same issues. I tried to put isopropyl alcohol into a bud and clean the extended charger connector. Whoa!! It works and charging. So every time it doesn't charge I put isopropyl alcohol on a bud and it works. Just a sharing. Who knows it may also works for you... I have to admit the sound is the best so far, but this problem should be a big concern for the Jaybird.

I am having a similar issue. I have had my pair for less than 90 days. Mine charged to 100% but would lose all power before I finished a 3 mile. It just shut off - no juice. Its been 2 week since I reported the issue. I have repeatedly had issues with previous versions. I don't know why I keep giving Jaybird money. They can't seem to get the water resistant part right. Ari P - how did the Bose soundsport work out?

To be honest I think all wireless sport headphones have their pros and cons and you have to find what suits you. The Bose are still going strong for me and are ideal. I got their charging case as well so even better. Was unfortunately very disappointed with my freedoms as when they did work the fit and sound quality was excellent. The customer service at the time sucked, but hope it's improved.

YEP! I am on my THIRD set having the exact same issue each time! Fortunately, Jaybird has honored their warranty and replaced them at no cost each time, but my 3rd and FINAL set is having the same charging issues again after less then 2 months. This is the LAST time I am giving them the benefit of the doubt.

I received a replacement pair in July after I last posted and now they won't stay connected to bluetooth. They stay connected for about 20 mins and then they disconnect and won't reconnect. Its getting really frustrating losing the earbuds mid run. I've tried hard reset and updating the firmware. It is so disappointing that Jaybird can't get the technology right. They must be spending a fortune on warranty replacements.

Exact same problem for me and on my 2nd pair which have just gone as well, this is 2nd set since June. Went to the Apple shop where I bought them (and replaced them for me) and they have said to contact Jaybird now. This looks like design issue with them, not fit for purpose. Don't want a replacement as same will happen. Money back or another model please.

cc @Jaybird - I have sent a follow up email support request today and cc'ed manager of Apple Shop who I talked to on Wed (he sent the initial support request on Wed on my behalf to you) no response received.
