Jaybird Bluebuds X Turning on and off again

  • Engelbert

    Hi Sixbowl,

Thank you for sharing your experience with the Bluebuds X. It seems that the headset is showing a "haywire" behavior due to the unit always reboots by itself.

Let me provide you the steps for the factory reset and 8 button process that can help resolve the issue.

    - Factory Reset

    1. Turn headphones off.

    2. Put in Pairing mode by holding the middle button for 6-8 seconds until it says "Searching for your Music Device" and wait for the headset to flash red and green.

    3. Do a reset by holding both volume buttons down 6-8 seconds and wait for the headset to flash orange 3 times.

    4. Delete or "Forget" the headset profile from the Bluetooth list of the mobile device.

    5. Put headphones back into pairing mode and connect them to your device.

    6. Test the headset afterwards.

    - 8 Button Process

    1. Firmly but quickly press the power button 8 times and then hold for 5 seconds. Repeat 2 times.

    2. When finished, plug the headset into the charger for 2.5 hours and check the color of the LED status lights.

    3. Power ON the device by holding the power button for 10 seconds or more.

NOTE: Most of the time if the headset turns RED, it will charge and function normally again. Make sure to fully charge the headset when the light is red.

    Hope this helps.

    Warm regards,

I have the same problem, but I've only had my earbuds for one year. I lauded them as well prior to this sudden malfunction. I tried the resets you suggested and they are still having the same issue.

I just started having this issue in the last week. I bought mine over 2 years ago and never had issues either. I tried the steps listed above but the issue is still happening. I basically cannot use my headphones at all now. Please advise.

My buds just started having the same behavior a couple of days ago.

I updated my iPhone iOS a few days ago as well. I thought that could have been the reason.

Yesterday I've done the factory - the light flashed orange 3 times. I deleted the buds from the iPhone as well, but they still have the same strange behavior.

Today I will try the 8 button process when I get home and will update this post.

    Thanks in advance.

I e mailed customer service with no response and found this post. I tried the factory reset and the headphones connected. Then I did the 8 step reset and now they won't work. I am charging them even though they were fully charged because it says to let them charge 2.5 hours. They are actually lit up red to charge even though I just unplugged them as green prior to doing the resets. ?I am irritated because I love these headphones and have bragged about them to my gym pals for 2 years and now they are dead.

I bought them because of the lifetime warranty, that people are saying isn't honored if over 2 years. I did so much research and practically sold these for them. Skull candy in park city utah actually has a real honored lifetime warranty. You can take any headphones into their headquarters and get a credit or new pair. No questions asked. They said they may require receipts soon. Either way they are honorable.

I had thought this company was the same. Guess I was wrong. I will update post once headphones are fully charged. Jaybird also hasn't denied me for a warranty but we will see. It is sad to see others feel scammed and feel pinned against a wall like you are next.
